The staff were cute and always ready to help. The breakfast was quite satisfying, with a good selection of pastries, fruits, and hot options like scrambled eggs and sausages. The location was perfect, only a short stroll to the old town and very close to the train station.
Room was a bit small.

Adorable staff, handy location, everything was great. Location: the hotel was very close to the train station. Plus it was max 15 mins walk to the lake. The room was tidy, with TV, slept really well;))

The bed was super comfy 🛏️ The shower was powerful, and I loved the cleanliness of everything. Just wish there were more breakfast options for early risers.

A rollercoaster of pros and cons
The hotel is conveniently located near the train station and city center. The breakfast selection was amazing with various options to choose from.
The rooms face a noisy street, and the lack of sound insulation makes it hard to sleep, especially with the fire alarm chaos we experienced early in the morning.

Nice rooms, nice view on the sea, reasonable price. The position is excellent for visiting the city without sleeping in a noisy environment. The hotel area is, in fact, rather calm.
They should not advertise that they have a wireless network, if they do not. The room was a bit small, and the breakfast not very rich, but I guess that's a common thing in the south of Europe.

Our stay at the Afonso was our second visit having stayed there in July 2010. We found the facilities excellent and the staff very helpful. The hotel is very convenient for the bus stop for travel to both the airport and the beach. Our room was very clean with a comfortable double bed and the all important air conditioning. The continental breakfast was very good with a selection of fresh fruit and pastries which we found to be adequate. We have recommended the Afonso to several friends and are intending to stay again next July.

Great value for money! The location was perfect, 5 minutes walk from the old city centre and harbour. The rooms/facilities are in good condition and the staff are helpful and friendly.
The only negative point is that we arrived at 3pm, tired and wiery after a day of travelling to find that our rooms weren't ready. Check-in is advertised as midday onwards; we had to wait whilst the cleaners did their thing!

Hotel located 300 meters from the Bus Station in Faro as well as from the old town. Rooms are clean but they could be already renovated. Breakfast is included and it was sufficient for me. Good place for short stay in Faro.
Rooms need to be renovated. The whole equipment was from 80s.

We enjoyed the spacious apartment, which easily fit our family of eight. The location was ideal, with the train station and city center just steps away. The kids loved exploring nearby shops and cafes, and we appreciated the early check-in perk.
My kids wished for more breakfast options.

Super close to the train station. The staff was really helpful and even arranged our early taxi. Stay here for convenience and a good breakfast!
We faced a bit of an issue with the shower head falling down unexpectedly when the water was off. Thankfully, no one got hurt, but it's something management should fix.

The Residencial Afonso lll was a great place for us to stay as we were flying out of Faro at 6 am. It is a 2 min walk from the train station and seemed to be in a good location. Staff was fantastic and very eager to assist with directions, information etc. Rooms were small but comfortable. A very nice place, for the budget traveller.
Bathtub was permenantly stained where bathmat should be and bathroom could have been cleaner. I think it was more the appearance of being dirty (eg old grout, stained floor etc) than actual dirt.
